Robbers kill PLM student

Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:27

A MEDICAL student of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila was stabbed to death after she resisted three holdup men in Tondo, Manila yesterday.

Mary Roxan Musngi, 20, of 253 V. Del Fierro St., Gagalangin, Tondo died from four stab wounds while being operated on at the Tondo General Hospital.

Case investigator PO3 Jaime Gonzales of the Manila Police District homicide section said the incident happened at 3:30 a.m. at the corner of Gen. Lukban and Juan Luna streets in Tondo.

The victim came from hospital duty and was on her way home when three motorcycle-riding men blocked her path.

Two of the suspects alighted from the motorcycle and at knife-point announced the heist.

However, the victim refused to yield her backpack, prompting the suspects to stab her several times.

When the victim fell on the pavement, the suspects took her bag containing undetermined amount of cash, mobile phone, medical books and a laptop.

The suspects fled towards Juan Luna going to Pritil Market in Tondo.

Witnesses Lester Gonzales, 17, a student of Fatima College, and Elton Jay Genove, 16, an STI student, tried to chase the fleeing suspects but failed to catch them.

Residents said the close circuit television system installed in the area was not working. They called on the police to repair the broken CCTV immediately.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
