government service

i have so many realizations when it comes to government service, most of these observations, sad to say, are critical. At the top of my mind is that many of them have become very jaded.

In a word, incompetent. another is uninspired.

max weber had this bias towards the word "bureaucracy." for him, government is about impersonal relationship where rules are rigidly followed: a system wherein the entire government structure is put in place to address the various demands of the people. i guess, during his time, the german bureaucracy impressed him so much that he felt that he described bureaucracy as efficient.

Not anymore.

Now, the term bureaucracy has been corrupted. It is anything but orderly and impersonal.

The merit system does not work in the government. Far from it.

I hope I am not becoming jaded.
